Asking a student to sleep appears like a contradiction because motivation speakers insist on hard work and putting in extra hours. However, the place of sleep in the health of a human being is reserved. Education experts have recommended eight hours of sleep for students to boost their academic performance and college experience.

It is understandable when a student puts in the extra hours in the evening and early morning, especially if he’s working on a custom dissertation. Like entrepreneurs and the wealthiest people will tell you, no one achieved anything extraordinary without putting in these extra hours. However, this does not call for ignorance of the benefits of eight hours of sleep for a student. Here is a reason why you should strive to achieve eight hours of sleep each day as a student.

A student needs to remain fully alert during lessons. It would be impossible to maintain this level of alertness if you did not sleep enough. The student will be drowsy because he or she is still tired and failed to get sufficient sleep. Lack of vigilance comes with the following negative consequences to the child.

  • A student takes longer to grasp simple concepts

A student must make all efforts possible to stay alert during the day. It reduces the time taken to learn, a situation that reflects in your performance.

Lack of enough sleep is associated with anxiety that will grow to become stress. An anxious student cannot concentrate in class and will also find difficult learning. Anxiety creates a complicated situation because it is a trigger for stress and depression. A stressed and depressed student will be prone to drug abuse and such other social ills. Stress will also affect the physical and mental health of a student because eating and relaxation become problematic. During the eight hours of sleep, the body relaxes and will be ready for the demands over the following day.

These downloads also contain malware such as viruses that stay in their computer and extract resources or in the worst case, ransoms from ransomware.
  • Securing your network –You can take preventative steps by securing your network or endpoints for all user-end devices that are used within the organization. This doesn’t just protect and encrypt data, but it also blocks any suspicious attempts of access and risky activity. Once you’ve done this, keep your employees informed and updated that endpoint security also monitors activity.

MTN to Introduce measures to fight Corona Virus by promoting cashless transactions

Guru8 has received a copy of a letter from MTN Uganda Limited (MTN) addressed to the Director of the National Payments Systems Development Unit where the telecommunication giant has introduced its own measures to fight the spread of the pandemic COVID – 19.

In the letter, dated 18th March 2020, the Win Vanhelleputte, the Chief Executive Officer of MTN gives background to the measures and reveals that a discussion was had between the company, the Central Bank, and other banks in Uganda where they discussed the different ways to minimize the likelihood of transmitting the virus through the handling of physical cash.

The company has introduced a couple of measures that will in effect promote the usage of digital money which will be implemented jointly with the commercial banks.

MTN has indicated that there will be “no charge for peer to peer (p2p) on net transactions below Uganda Shillings thirty thousand (30,000)”, reads the first measure. The other measures levying no charge for the wallet to bank (w2b) or bank to wallet (b2w) where the clients exchange money between the bank and the bank customer. However, this measure will be dependent on the policies of the individual banks. The third measure is that there will be no charge for all momo pay transaction for customers an merchants.

These measures will be effective starting the 20th March 2020. According to the letter however, MTN references the 20th to be Thursday, which leaves the customers wondering whether the day inferred is actually Friday (20th) or Thursday.

But what is certain is that by Friday these new pro digital measures will be in force.

Goods and Services Tax (GST) is the modern comprehensive multi-stage tax system in India, which has replaced several indirect tax systems in India. It is a significant reform in the Indian economy. It has made the complex and the normal tax system easier and comfortable. It aims at the regulation of ‘one nation, one tax’ system. Due to the replacement of the indirect taxes and enforcement of a single tax, the amount of taxes on several goods and services has been decreased. Reviews of people on GST

The implementation of GST has received mixed reviews from people. The replacement of heavy taxes with lighter taxes is appreciable. It replaced the complex and indirect tax system with a simple tax system. It replaced all the central and state government taxes with a single tax in which the state and the central governments have mutual profits. It also reduces cascading or the double taxation effect. The main aim of GST is to abolish all indirect taxes. It also allows registered businesses to claim tax profits.

Apart from the positive reviews, the GST act has been criticized a lot by economists and the public as well. The sudden change and reformation of the economy needs a lot of time to come into a habit. Due to this magnanimous change, small business groups were poorly affected. Apart from that, the public of India also needs time to adapt and trust the new system. The sudden reinforcement of the GST act and its strict rules made the public worried. Due to the lack of awareness, it also created a lot of confusion and misunderstandings. This, in turn, led to a delay in tax collection, which affected the Indian economy over a long period.

However, there have been corrections made to the act over time. The amendments have also brought several changes making the GST act a helpful one.

The Current Position of GST in India 

The Indian Economy has two types of taxes. One is direct, and the other is indirect.  A direct tax is directly levied on a person and collected from the same person, for example, income tax. The indirect tax, like the sales tax, is levied on a person and collected from the other person. According to the old tax system, there were several taxes collected by the central government, like service tax, customs duty, and excise duty. There were other taxes like value-added tax, stamp duties, land revenues, and state excise taxes levied and collected by the state government. People needed to hire professionals to file their tax, and this led to the establishment of several tax firms in India. But after the implementation of GST, the tax filing system has become more accessible due to digitization. 

Also, GST has played a vital role in mitigating cascading or taxation on tax. The removal of cascading is important to reduce deadweight loss. It is caused because of the overlapping of union and state tax collection.  

Future Goals of GST in India

The main goal of GST is to implement ‘one nation, one tax’ system in India. It has aimed to reduce cascading to make Indian products competitive in the international market as well as creating a common market in India. It aims at a boost in revenue. It will also clean the path for a digital India. GST billing software has been launched in the market to add features like GST compliant billing, easy GST calculation, transport labels, etc. to your business. MTN Uganda Recognized With “Highest Network Performance Score” Award

MTN Uganda has continuously kept her standards in performance, customer care, innovation among other fields and this keeps her winning both at home and abroad.

The company has been recognized by Rohde & Schwarz, with “Highest Network Performance Score” for its data and voice services.

The award was officially presented to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), MTN Uganda – Mr. Win Vanhelleputte at the company’s offices in Kololo, Nyonyi Gardens on Tuesday, 18 February 2020 by Shakil Ahmed, Director Africa together with Paul Mwangi, Manager Mobile Network Testing, Rohde Schwarz.

Rohde & Schwarz bestowed this award on MTN Uganda following tests conducted on ground in Uganda, during the 3rd quarter of 2019, and within the framework of a study that involved extensive tests of voice calls and internet speed evaluations across over 8500km around the country as well as static tests in hot spots.

These independently conducted network quality and performance tests were done on the networks of all mobile operators in Uganda and benchmarked against leading European mobile telephone operators using the network performance scoring methodology of European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) TR 103 559 S.

Rohde & Schwarz is a renown international organization that specializes in auditing 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G performance of mobile networks across the globe using the International Telecommunication Union (ITU)/ETSI standards and methodology.

“The award justifies MTN’s commitment over the years to continuously invest in a wide and quality network.”, said Mr. Vanhelleputte.

“The advantage of using this global standard of measurement (is that), it challenges us to not only be the best in Uganda but also benchmark ourselves against leading networks across the world. Our consistent investment in the network over the years is getting us ever closer to the ‘best in class’ global networks.”, he further noted.

MTN’s network had the highest aggregated voice performance score across major towns and on highways. This specifically with regard to placement and quality of calls. In addition, MTN Uganda also registered the highest aggregated data performance score in relation to quality of videos and ability to stream.

Being the market leader with more than 13 million customers, MTN Uganda has made it a strategic priority to deliver and maintain a positive experience for customers using our network.

In January 2020, MTN Uganda became the first operator in East Africa and the third in Africa to showcase the 5G network to its customers, after MTN South Africa and MTN Nigeria last year. The use case trials demonstrated the capability of 5G, giving customers a glimpse of the benefits, this future technology will deliver.

How to get started:

• Go to Android or iOS app store and download the YOTVChannels APP

• Enter your MTN mobile number to register.

• You will receive a PIN on the mobile number you used when registering.

• Enter the PIN to complete your set-up. 

• You will then have a 30 days’ data free viewing experience on YOTVChannels.

• At the expiry of the 30 days, you can then select a subscription plan that suits your needs.
