memeTox Review: This App will kill you with Laughter

I was in the middle of a rather boring meeting when i got a message asking me to try the memetox app out. I hit the PlayStore and downloaded memeTox an app made from the same developer of Woloks. I was prompted to enter my details into the app. Immediately I was logged in i was greeted with a screen with a good number funny memes. I had to bite my lips because i was lost in a world of laughter.

The memes are crowd sourced meaning your images will be shared to lots of people and you will receive a feed basing on an unknown algorithm. You are shown a tonne of funny images that fellow users have uploaded to the app.

The current users seem to base images basing on current events because the memes suit different scenarios and occasions in our daily life like the Mbabazi saga, Obama’s statements. You will realize these memes tell a story and definitely a funny one.

I loved Vote feature which ranks photos based on users votes. We all love hash tags and memeTox lets you look at photos based on a particular hash tag and for those who want lots of votes, hashtags come in handy.

Currently The Developer Ivan Mworozi is running a promotion that rewards the user whose photo has the most likes with 10,000 worth of airtime. Trust me this is no easy war, its like trying to be the best comedian in the country.

You will be able to comment and tag your friends so that they can see the funniest photos and this will boost your ranking of the day or week to become an eligible winner for the week.

MemeTox is the app you open up in that boring meeting, lecture or outing and get the widest smile. I must warn you though, you might laugh during a funerals but it might be worth it. It has a few glitchesbut you will probably laugh your way through them

Please put a smile on your face by downloading MemeTox from the PlayStore.

Ultimate battery optimization tricks that will push your battery life to the limit

0

There’s are new battery hacks I have figured out. Well i may not be the first to discover them but the heck, why not share the fun.

Smartphone users have for long been whining about how their batteries are drained so fast.  Today, I have come up with some solutions that can help you get extended battery life. Let’s dive right in.

1. When charging, turn on Airplane mode.  Okay this isn’t a battery Optimization trick… It’s  a trick that helps you get a faster charge.

2. Charge when the phone is switched off.  That serves the same purpose as 1 above.

3. Use power saving mode.  The latest android versions all have this feature. Some custom ROMs even step it up the notch like touchwiz which turns everything to black and white monochrome.

4. Do not use the phone while it’s charging. Hmm okay, i might be breaking this particular rule but what the heck.  I can afford a new battery.

5. Invest in a power bank.  There are many of these on the market today.  You can Grab a techno one. That one even has a torch on it.

6. Buy a second battery.  What can i say… It doesn’t hurt to own more than one battery.

7. Look for a Chinese alternative. I understand in Ug Chinese means fake but these guys are freakin awesome. They have made batteries twice, tripple even quadruple the energy of Stock batteries.  There’s one i owned that ran for a week. Some guy stole it naye.

8. Uhm what else? Yes. Battery hogging apps. These are well know: candy crash, facebook, instagram, photogrid simaya what. Guys and babes.  Control yourselvez. Play one game a day. If not uninstall those addictive bu things. It’s a better option.

9. Turn off sync, wifi, Bluetooth, data, sound, decrease the brightness oba set it to auto for us that have light sensors, turn off the camera flash, those bu key pad sounds as you dail, live wall papers,un funny animations and transitions, GPS bikoze bitya.  Pretty much whatever you don’t need at that given juncture.

10. Buy a second smartphone. That’s a little harsh if not drastic. This only applies to rich gangs and billionaire club members. Do not risk if you are in  broke gang. Mbs are not cheap

11. Download battery optimizer apps. Most of them have the word juice in it. Yes don’t expect juice of course…  Thirsty pervert. Some anti-viruses like AVG, 360 and kaspersky have these features inbuilt.

12. If all that is hard. Just turn off your phone.

There you have it.  So guys, Stop moving around with funny chargers made from mutaasa or borrowing a usb cable from strangers
Nice time folks

Yahoo and Bing search were down

0

At least we know hackers had nothing to do with the outage of bing and yahoo searches.

This was after upload of bad code by Microsoft in what was supposed to be an update and Microsoft wasn’t able to revert changes quickly.

Users were unable to make searches using Bing and Yahoo and some searches through Cortana and Siri were not successful.
According to Tech Crunch, some users were unable to access some Microsoft domains like portal.office.com and outlook.com could not resolve.

Making a search on yahoo.com redirected to search.yahoo.com which showed a blank page.
Yahoo then put up a temporary error page saying the service will be right back.

Update
Yahoo has also confirmed its outage:

“We are aware that Yahoo Search is unavailable to users. Our engineers are working to restore the service at the earliest.”

The search has been restored

Samsung throws in even faster LTE into the Galaxy Note 4

0

The Samsung boys released the Samsung Note 4 together with the Note Edge earlier this year. Well these guys are at it again. They have brought us a late Christmas gift; call it a new year’s gift.

The LTE-A Tri-Band CA Galaxy Note 4 – too much mumble jumble, right? This device is pretty neat with similar looks to its immediate brother and sister.

The only difference here is that this phablet has the ability to handle three different frequency bands simultaneously and aggregate them into a single, theoretically faster connection. Okay, all that means faster internet connections and download speeds in case it makes little sense.

Samsung says it is the first “commercially available” Smartphone with such a setup.  The improved handset can support both Category 6 (up to 300 Mbps) and Category 9 (up to 450 Mbps) LTE networks but the best part is that it can jump between the fastest bandwidths available.

That was theoretical, but in practice; the handset must have faster connections provided your telecom has upgraded to support the blistering speeds.  More to all those specs, there are reports that the beast is also packed with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, which is an improvement on the Note 4’s Snapdragon 805.

At the moment, the new model might not be sold beyond Korea unless telecoms improve their bandwidths. It makes little sense for Samsung to sell the device worldwide when in a country like Uganda, Category 6 sounds like Alien technology.

NSSF launches e-learning system

0

The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) today launched an E-Learning System that is aimed at improving competences and skills among its staff countrywide, thereby reducing its staff development budget by 36%.
While addressing staff at the launch at Workers House, NSSF Managing Director, Richard Byarugaba said that the E-learning system will offer NSSF employees with relevant and cost effective programmes, improve performance culture, and enable the Fund create more value for its members.
“This system delivers instant learning, enabling us achieve round the clock staff development that is self-led. It will improve personal development through applying focused and relevant learning to our all our employees,” he said.
“This innovative approach to learning and training ensures that we develop staff – our most valuable resource, at the same time saving money. This kind of cost management enable us create value for our members, while improving service delivery,” he added.
The Fund is among the first institutions in Uganda to implement e-learning. The system will enable staff access world class training, including some prestigious Harvard managerial courses. It will also enable the Fund address training and learning needs of all the staff at the same time.
The Fund operates a blended approach – use of instructor led training, coaching, on the job training. E-learning is the last component of this approach.
“Staff development is a continuous process. The retirement benefits sector is changing, technology is improving, and the needs of the business keep changing. In order to meet the demands of the business and our members’ expectations, it is important that we invest more in the development of our internal competencies,” Byarugaba said.
Mr. Elly Karuhanga, a prominent lawyer and former NSSF Board Chairman applauded NSSF for the innovation, and encouraged the Fund to continue automating its systems to cut down on the cost of doing business.
“Gone are the days when one had to face a trainer in a room or do an exam to get certified. Technology has made life easier. The global trend is now self-led, e-learning. To see the Fund embracing e-learning is gratifying,” Karuhanga said.
“Some studies show that a company can cut training costs by up to 35%, and condense about 2,900 hours of classroom training into 700 hours of e-learning. E-learning should therefore help the Fund reduce costs. I am not surprised that this was one of the primary motivators for the Fund to start e-learning,” he noted.

How to change to the Firefox default search from Yahoo back to Google or something else!

0

Well loyal users to Firefox might be surprised after the Firefox 34 update that changes the default search provider from Google to Yahoo. I mean some users have are used to googling using Google not Yahoo stuff (**uhmm it’s that bad!…. I mean most people google stuff and well some yahoo… no they search for stuff using Yahoo, Bing and those other search engines that Firefox 34 displays as you search.

Well if you happen not to be happy with the new changes, then you just have to follow a few steps;

Step 1: Go to your Search Bar which is next to your address bar and click the magnifying glass icon.

Step 2:  A Dropdown will appear and click the “Change Search Settings” option and options box window will appear.

firefoxOptions

Step 3: Choose a new search engine, you can also choose to turn of search suggestions something I personally discourage.

Step 4: Click OK.

Now you can have that search engine you trust. I must appreciate Firefox for letting users select their preferred search engine for a single search, I mean you can have google as your default but still use the search bar to make a single search using amazon.com
