UK prime minister wants to ban encrypted messaging apps like WhatsApp and Snapchat

0

The British Prime Minister David Cameron will consider banning encrypted messaging apps like WhatsApp, Snapchat in the UK if they do not  make data available to intelligence agencies.

“Are we going to allow a means of communications which it simply isn’t possible to read?” Cameron said. “My answer to that question is: ‘No, we must not.’ ” he said on Monday during a press conference where he cited the recent Paris Terror attacks.

You would be shocked to realize that he is making such remarks as he seeks for reelection yet he previously marched for freedom during earlier campaigns. Well he might think that banning apps that use end to end encryption is a form of freedom.

How dangerous is it the world?

If such remarks can be made in a country that claims to be diplomatic, then what will happen in a coutry lead by an older in his late 20 year of reign. This will act like a go a head in nations led by tyrants to block any app or social network. Britons their frustration to social networks after David Cameron’s remarks.

What we loved at the CES 2015: innovative, futuristic and the simply beautiful

0

Ever since 1967 when the Consumer Electronics Show was born, the world of consumer electronics has changed markedly. Smartphones have replaced everything from personal music players and point-and-shoot cameras to answering machines and digital voice recorders. The huge desktop PCs have vanished in thin air. And the thick giant speakers, and 200-kilogram 36-inch CRT TVs of yesteryear are long gone.

Despite all that, there’s plenty of cool stuff you should be excited about this year—this brings us to this story. The following are the best products showcased at the CES 2015;

The Best Phone: LG G Flex 2

What LG did was get its last year’s flexing phone and shrinked its screen to 5.5 inches making it a lot brighter and sharper. The G Flex 2, will be sold by Sprint having a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chip, the strongest Smartphone processor on the market

lenovo-lavie-hz750-and-hz550
The Lenovo LaVie H750 convertible and HZ550 clamshell laptops are some of the lightest, if not the lightest 13-inch PCs that we saw at the show. They are constructed of sturdy magnesium-lithium alloys, and weigh less than some tablet-keyboard dock combos. The HZ750 is 2.04 pounds, while the HZ550 is only 1.72 pounds, a couple of ounces heavier than the original Apple iPad. The HZ750 has a convertible hinge like the one on Lenovo’s Yoga line plus an Intel Core i5 processor; it can blaze through most tasks you throw at it.

If you just plain need a bigger picture and text, the base 1,366-by-768-resolution screen will let you surf the net without having to grab your reading glasses. With a $249.99 base price and the malware-resistant Chrome OS, the Acer Chromebook 15 has the potential to be that go-to laptop you buy for your non-tech savvy friends and relatives

It bends into an arm over the display and projects an image onto a large touch-sensitive mat. It can scan documents or objects placed on the mat, the latter in either 2D or 3D, for use in animations or for printout on a 3D printer.

How awesome is that?

The Best Gaming PC: CyberPower Trinity

cyberpower-trinity
Lets welcome innovation in gaming PCs. In this sector, that’s where you will find the freshest technologies and ideas. The CyberPower Trinity is a manifest of this gospel truth. It has a multi-spoke design which separates the chassis into three distinct cooling zones, so it keeps components that generate heat from each other. As you’d expect, one spoke holds the CPU, ITX motherboard, and its liquid cooling system, the second holds a graphics card, while the third holds the power supply unit (PSU). In case you want to run a dual-card system, the second card rides shotgun with the PSU. The model we saw in Vegas held an Intel Core i7-4790K processor, a Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 graphics card, and three 512GB SSDs. This is a rig we can’t wait to test.

The Best HDTV: LG 55EF9500

lg-55ef9500
It’s simply a flat, 4K television with a cutting-edge panel technology we know can produce the best possible contrast and extremely accurate colours. Quantum dots could be an impressive new HDTV technology. LG is now expanding its OLED selection to 4K, with flat options. Curved screens remain a gimmick, and we can’t trust quantum dot technology until we put it through its paces. This beast will likely cost a bit more than the curved 1080p 55EC9300 (which now retails for $3,500, half as m

The Best Home Theatre Gear: Sling TV

samsung-portable-ssd-t1

Built for ease of use and with a calibration-free design, the da Vinci Junior’s build platform requires no levelling. Its auto-loading filament cartridges are easy to replace. An SD card slot allows users to print directly from an SD card, with no computer is required, making the da Vinci Junior a good choice as a shared printer in schools, libraries, or community centers. We expect to see a lot of households making the plunge into 3D printing with the da Vinci Junior.
The Best Drone: DJI Inspire 1

dji-inspire-1
The 4K Inspire 1 drone from DJI isn’t a brand new product—it was announced back in mid-November—but units are just starting to ship and for many, CES is the first opportunity to see one in person. Think of the Inspire 1 as the more serious version of the hobbyist-friendly Phantom 2 Vision+. It’s got better video capability recording 24fps video at up to 4K quality, and can do up to 60fps at 1080p at up to a 60Mbps bitrate. Its 20mm wide-angle camera lens doesn’t show any fish-eye distortion. It supports dual remote controls, so one person can fly the drone and other can operate the detachable camera. All of this adds up to a quadcopter that’s appeals to serious hobbyists and independent filmmakers alike. It’s not an impulse purchase—it costs $2,899 with a single remote control and $3,399 with two remotes—but it’s easily the best consumer drone on display at CES 2015.

The Best Digital Camera: DJI Inspire 1 Camera Mount

dji-inspire-1-camera-mount
It’s not an actual camera per se, but it’s a winner nonetheless. DJI has been a leader in stabilized video when working with aerial capture platforms like its Phantom 2 Vision+, and also offers a handheld gimbal system, the Ronin, that’s big and bad enough to handle a 6K Red cinema camera. The svelte Inspire 1 Camera Mount only works with the 4K video camera utilized by the Inspire 1, but should be a hit with documentary filmmakers who prefer a run-and-gun cinema verité style, and drone owners who would like to benefit from the same smooth video capture that they get in the air when they’re on the ground. The Camera Mount has two modes: one keeps the camera steadily locked on a position, great for a set shot, and another that allows freeform movement so you can follow moving action.

The Best Car: Mercedes F 015 “Luxury in Motion” Concept

mercedes-f-015-luxury-in-motion-concept
Okay, so it’s not a car you’ll be able to buy just yet. This car right from a science fiction movie; the stunning, self-driving Mercedes F 015 drove itself on stage at CES, and looked dazzling with its silver “car of the future” exterior, sophisticated lighting, and white leather interior. The F 015 can project a crosswalk in front of the car, letting pedestrians know it’s safe to cross. Anyone in the interior can control the car with a portable module, while the dashboard is one giant screen. Safety and automated features abound. If this is what driving in traffic in 2030 looks like, sign us up.

memeTox Review: This App will kill you with Laughter

I was in the middle of a rather boring meeting when i got a message asking me to try the memetox app out. I hit the PlayStore and downloaded memeTox an app made from the same developer of Woloks. I was prompted to enter my details into the app. Immediately I was logged in i was greeted with a screen with a good number funny memes. I had to bite my lips because i was lost in a world of laughter.

The memes are crowd sourced meaning your images will be shared to lots of people and you will receive a feed basing on an unknown algorithm. You are shown a tonne of funny images that fellow users have uploaded to the app.

The current users seem to base images basing on current events because the memes suit different scenarios and occasions in our daily life like the Mbabazi saga, Obama’s statements. You will realize these memes tell a story and definitely a funny one.

I loved Vote feature which ranks photos based on users votes. We all love hash tags and memeTox lets you look at photos based on a particular hash tag and for those who want lots of votes, hashtags come in handy.

Currently The Developer Ivan Mworozi is running a promotion that rewards the user whose photo has the most likes with 10,000 worth of airtime. Trust me this is no easy war, its like trying to be the best comedian in the country.

You will be able to comment and tag your friends so that they can see the funniest photos and this will boost your ranking of the day or week to become an eligible winner for the week.

MemeTox is the app you open up in that boring meeting, lecture or outing and get the widest smile. I must warn you though, you might laugh during a funerals but it might be worth it. It has a few glitchesbut you will probably laugh your way through them

Please put a smile on your face by downloading MemeTox from the PlayStore.

Ultimate battery optimization tricks that will push your battery life to the limit

0

There’s are new battery hacks I have figured out. Well i may not be the first to discover them but the heck, why not share the fun.

Smartphone users have for long been whining about how their batteries are drained so fast.  Today, I have come up with some solutions that can help you get extended battery life. Let’s dive right in.

1. When charging, turn on Airplane mode.  Okay this isn’t a battery Optimization trick… It’s  a trick that helps you get a faster charge.

2. Charge when the phone is switched off.  That serves the same purpose as 1 above.

3. Use power saving mode.  The latest android versions all have this feature. Some custom ROMs even step it up the notch like touchwiz which turns everything to black and white monochrome.

4. Do not use the phone while it’s charging. Hmm okay, i might be breaking this particular rule but what the heck.  I can afford a new battery.

5. Invest in a power bank.  There are many of these on the market today.  You can Grab a techno one. That one even has a torch on it.

6. Buy a second battery.  What can i say… It doesn’t hurt to own more than one battery.

7. Look for a Chinese alternative. I understand in Ug Chinese means fake but these guys are freakin awesome. They have made batteries twice, tripple even quadruple the energy of Stock batteries.  There’s one i owned that ran for a week. Some guy stole it naye.

8. Uhm what else? Yes. Battery hogging apps. These are well know: candy crash, facebook, instagram, photogrid simaya what. Guys and babes.  Control yourselvez. Play one game a day. If not uninstall those addictive bu things. It’s a better option.

9. Turn off sync, wifi, Bluetooth, data, sound, decrease the brightness oba set it to auto for us that have light sensors, turn off the camera flash, those bu key pad sounds as you dail, live wall papers,un funny animations and transitions, GPS bikoze bitya.  Pretty much whatever you don’t need at that given juncture.

10. Buy a second smartphone. That’s a little harsh if not drastic. This only applies to rich gangs and billionaire club members. Do not risk if you are in  broke gang. Mbs are not cheap

11. Download battery optimizer apps. Most of them have the word juice in it. Yes don’t expect juice of course…  Thirsty pervert. Some anti-viruses like AVG, 360 and kaspersky have these features inbuilt.

12. If all that is hard. Just turn off your phone.

There you have it.  So guys, Stop moving around with funny chargers made from mutaasa or borrowing a usb cable from strangers
Nice time folks

Yahoo and Bing search were down

0

At least we know hackers had nothing to do with the outage of bing and yahoo searches.

This was after upload of bad code by Microsoft in what was supposed to be an update and Microsoft wasn’t able to revert changes quickly.

Users were unable to make searches using Bing and Yahoo and some searches through Cortana and Siri were not successful.
According to Tech Crunch, some users were unable to access some Microsoft domains like portal.office.com and outlook.com could not resolve.

Making a search on yahoo.com redirected to search.yahoo.com which showed a blank page.
Yahoo then put up a temporary error page saying the service will be right back.

Update
Yahoo has also confirmed its outage:

“We are aware that Yahoo Search is unavailable to users. Our engineers are working to restore the service at the earliest.”

The search has been restored

Samsung throws in even faster LTE into the Galaxy Note 4

0

The Samsung boys released the Samsung Note 4 together with the Note Edge earlier this year. Well these guys are at it again. They have brought us a late Christmas gift; call it a new year’s gift.

The LTE-A Tri-Band CA Galaxy Note 4 – too much mumble jumble, right? This device is pretty neat with similar looks to its immediate brother and sister.

The only difference here is that this phablet has the ability to handle three different frequency bands simultaneously and aggregate them into a single, theoretically faster connection. Okay, all that means faster internet connections and download speeds in case it makes little sense.

Samsung says it is the first “commercially available” Smartphone with such a setup.  The improved handset can support both Category 6 (up to 300 Mbps) and Category 9 (up to 450 Mbps) LTE networks but the best part is that it can jump between the fastest bandwidths available.

That was theoretical, but in practice; the handset must have faster connections provided your telecom has upgraded to support the blistering speeds.  More to all those specs, there are reports that the beast is also packed with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, which is an improvement on the Note 4’s Snapdragon 805.

At the moment, the new model might not be sold beyond Korea unless telecoms improve their bandwidths. It makes little sense for Samsung to sell the device worldwide when in a country like Uganda, Category 6 sounds like Alien technology.
