Garage48 is a hackathon where developers, designers and the business guys are supposed to turn an idea into a working prototype or product.

Outbox is organizing Garage48 Kampala 2014 scheduled for 24th to 26th October, an event where participants with different skills, ranging from software development to design, marketing, sales and entrepreneurship turn an idea into a working prototype in 48 hours.

Participants are expected to register in 4 categories; developers, designers, marketeers and project managers.

A ticket is at a fee of 40,000/= (16 USD) while students pay 20,000/= (8 USD) to take care of their food snacks and drinks. Payments will be made after your participation is confirmed.

The last Garage48 Kampala was held in 2011 with up to 70 participants present, sponsored by Google, Nokia and MTN. Previous winners and prototypes from Garage48 include Somesha, Zword, Ninja Kids, MyTicket, and more awesome products as shown in this post.

[quote_box_center]About Garage48

Garage48 event series started in Estonia in April 2010 and have expanded to other countries in Northern Europe and Africa since then. All Garage48 events are held in English and have ~100 international participants. Participants have different skills, ranging from software development to design, marketing, sales and entrepreneurship.

People are often afraid to start their own project or business. Common problems include lack of know-how and co-founders, lack of money, unknown risks etc. Garage48 is here to change that mindset and show that it’s all about positive “let’s do it” attitude, creative team members and a motivating deadline.
Less talk, more action!
