Twitter celebrates 10 years with an awesome 140 character video

Twitter, the social media platform that many tend to call a microblogging service is celebrating 10 years of existing. Twitter posted a video showing global trends that were posted on twitter while showing a compose box of 140 characters. In fact they exceeded the limit and found a way to meet the limit.

It’s good to know the 140 character limit is not going away much as Twitter turned on it’s algorithmic twitter feed for its users by default. Thank God you can change it back to showing your latest tweets.

Samsung has launched the most technologically advanced smart phone ever the Samsung Galaxy S7 onto the Ugandan Market. The S7 comes in both the revolutionary edge version and the sleek contemporary design.

Speaking at the launch held today held at Uganda’s most popular lifestyle destination Acacia mall in Kololo, the country manager for Samsung Amos Mulago said we are very excited to launch this phone on the Ugandan market because it is truly an exceptional device in terms of its design, functionality and cutting edge features.

“It has a Snapdragon 820 processor which is the fastest ever built for any smartphone, fully charged it has 30% more battery life than the previous version and it can be charged wirelessly. In addition the hybrid SIM card tray allows users to insert a micro SD card for up to 200 GB of additional storage and in some select countries; the tray can be used as a dual SIM card port”.

Talking about one of the highly anticipated accessories the Samsung S7 phone comes with, the Samsung Virtual Reality gear which allows users to connect their phones onto a headset and get a 360 view of the world around them, play games or watch movies. Amos explained “this is a revolutionary device that has taken the world of communications and entertainment by storm it works with all the high end Galaxy phones starting from the note 4 and beyond”.

Informing the public where they can purchase the Galaxy S7 Amos noted that the phone is available for sale from their promotional exhibition at Acacia Mall where they are giving the public an opportunity to try out the device, alternatively S7’s can be bought from MTN premium sales outlets in Kampala or on the MTN website at a specially discounted price.

Announcing a 10 day joint Easter promotion they will be running with Samsung for the S7 Paul Mwirigi, Head of Marketing for Knight Frank, the property managers of Acacia Mall, revealed that two lucky winners will get the chance to a brand new Samsung Galaxy S7 phone and the Samsung Galaxy S7 gear in the joint Easter promo.

Africell launches the O’fwono Tooti bundle for just 500 shillings

Africell Uganda, the giant telecom that was last year ranked the number one telecom in terms of internet data speeds unveiled the O’fwono Tooti bundle this morning.

For just 500 shillings, Africell customers can now get 30 voice minutes charged per second to be used in a period of one hour. The O’fwono Tooti Bundle pricing makes it the lowest and most affordable bundle offer on any telecom network in Uganda. Africell which in October last year also unleashed the King of the Bundles offer which combines voice and data calls bundles promises to keep the rates affordable for their customers.

Besides this low charge bundle, Africell also has offerings for their customers whose preference is data with their packages that are similarly lowly priced. Milad Khairallah, Africell’s Chief Commercial Officer says these offers are in line with the telecom’s vision to give their customers services that are affordable and the best in the market.

“Africell has always looked out for its subscribers. We strive to give them services that are the best, are affordable and are of good quality. Our coverage caters for nearly the whole of Uganda. Kaymu and MTN Uganda launch the Crazy Wednesday Promotion

Kaymu.co.ug is offering favorable prices for it gadgets every Wednesday. The promotion called Kaymu Happy Wednesday or Crazy Wednesday will enable customers to buy products like Mobile Phones and tablets at cheaper rates.

The online shopping portal launched the promotion in partnership with MTN Uganda last week. Kaymu customers will be able access lower rates of data packages with a one month free internet surfing experience.

Timothy Tugume, the Head of Customer Support and Operations for Kaymu says the promotion will be on for a long time in order to give their customers a chance to purchase their long-fancied gadgets at give- away prices. Timothy asserted “The crazy wednesday promotion targets our customers who want to buy phones and gadgets at reduced prices. This will run every week”.

He added “Kaymu customers have amazing opportunity to purchase different quality products at good prices. Kaymu has been credited with having a variety of new tech gadgets. Customers can place orders through social media sites like facebook”

The promotion which is being run in partnership with Mtn Uganda will have customers buy gadgets such as mobile phones, tablets, modems and routers at heavily discounted prices on the Kaymu website. The purchased gadgets will also have pre-loaded voice and data bundles for instant use and last upto 30 days.

MTN Uganda recently launched new compo packs it has named ‘Go Bundles’. MTN Uganda subscribers can now purchase a voice/call minutes, data and sms in a single bundle for either a day, week or Month.  Subscribers can also purchase a GO bundle for another customer. Go Bundles will replace the aged Freedom Bundles which offered a less number of minutes and data.

Purchasing a bundle is as easy as dialing *160*33#. and following the prompts to select a preferred bundle of their choice. Below is the amount of data, number of minutes and sms that come with each bundle.

Facebook Messenger now has a material design on Android

For a few months now, we’ve watched Facebook experiment with giving its texting app a few Material-inspired changes. The designers added in a blue floating action button (FAB) that starts new conversations. Later changes turned the action bar blue.

This experimentation has all taken place server-side, so there’s been no way to trigger them manually or know for certain if they would stick around. Well, today Facebook’s Vice President of Messaging Products David Marcus announced the new look for the company’s Android app. That makes the changes official. The tweaks to the interface are rolling out now, with some of you possibly already having the updated experience.

Facebook Messenger’s updated interface comes shortly after developers introduced multiple account management. Other, less pleasant changes may be in the cards for later this year, such asthe introduction of ads. Facebook’s business decisions could ultimately have more impact over whether users stick with the app than interface integration, but on the other hand, at least you wouldn’t be dealing with both intrusive ads and an intrusive design.
