I am personally not a fan of portrait (tall) video recordings because they looked cropped and in fact the Google Camera app had found a way to disable you from recording portrait video. But due to the trending of live streaming and short video sharing apps like Vine, portrait and cropped videos had become the trend and twitter adopted them when it introduced native video recording in its app.
Twitter tweeted that Twitter users on Android and iOS are now able to capture and share video recordings in landscape views (wide) , something that was previously not possible for God knows what reason.
It’s nice that users can snap and share video in its proper view.
