Police are reportedly searching for a 26-year-old woman identified as Uwingeneye Aline whose whereabouts remain unknown after she is said to have disappeared while on police bond in a case linked to alleged Homosexuality.
According to information obtained Aline was earlier arrested together with another woman identified only as Donamu and detained at Industrial Area Police Station in Kampala. The arrest is believed to have stemmed from an incident that allegedly occurred at her work place Cross Point energy Ltd when the two women were reportedly captured on workplace CCTV cameras kissing shortly before the New Year. Sources at her workplace say that the two persons where always behaving in a way they did not understand and the director of Cross Point Energy had told all the employees to keep a keen eye on them.
Following their arrest Aline and Donamu were released on police bond pending further investigations. However police indicate that she failed to meet the reporting conditions prompting security agencies to begin efforts to trace her. Officers reportedly visited her known residence but found that she had already fled.
Her current whereabouts remain unclear with unconfirmed reports suggesting she may have initially fled Kampala and briefly sought refuge in western Uganda before going completely off the radar.
Reports further indicate that her family has distanced itself from her following the incident, while her estranged husband is said to have disowned her and their children.
Meanwhile posters identifying her as a “WANTED PERSON” have reportedly been circulated and pinned in various public places. Awareness of the case has spread beyond Kampala with images notices displayed in community areas where she is believed to be staying (Ndejje and Kisoro).
By press time no official police statement had been released although security sources maintain that efforts to locate and re-arrest Aline are ongoing. Members of the public have been urged to report any information regarding her whereabouts to the nearest police station.
