Raxio Data Centre has announced that it has been chosen as the host for Liquid Intelligent Technologies’ Microsoft Azure Stack, which is now operational within its Tier III certified facility in Uganda. This strategic partnership marks a significant milestone in advancing digital transformation within the country.
The Microsoft Azure Stack is a localized, miniaturized version of Microsoft’s larger cloud service, Azure. It brings an extensive portfolio of products that extend Azure’s services and capabilities to any environment, ranging from data centres to edge locations and remote offices. By deploying the Azure Stack in Uganda, Liquid Intelligent Technologies aims to support the country’s goal of achieving 90% business digital transformation by 2040, in line with the National ICT Policy and the National Broadband Policy of Uganda.
“We are thrilled to welcome the Microsoft Azure Stack to Raxio Data Centre,” said Godfrey Sserwamukoko, General Manager of Raxio Data Centre. “Our data hall is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, certified to Tier III standards, and designed to provide the ideal environment for the Azure Stack to operate efficiently. With our carrier and cloud-neutral stance, we offer secure colocation spaces with up to 400 racks, ensuring that all mission-critical IT infrastructure is housed in a redundant and reliable environment.”
Raxio’s facility is designed with a 2N+1 configuration for power, cooling, connectivity, and space, ensuring 99.82% uptime and no single points of failure. This robust infrastructure will support businesses adopting a cloud-first strategy, facilitating the seamless acceleration of cloud adoption across Uganda.
The deployment of the Azure Stack is particularly timely, as it enables businesses to comply with local regulatory requirements regarding data storage and processing, as outlined in Uganda’s Data Protection and Privacy Act. By hosting on the Azure Stack, local enterprises can ensure data sovereignty and meet the strict guidelines mandated by the law.
Michael Mukasa, Chief Executive Officer of Liquid Intelligent Technologies, highlighted the significance of this deployment: “The Azure Stack will be a game changer for local businesses, providing cost-effective cloud solutions that meet local regulatory requirements. It will also enable businesses to run latency-sensitive applications more efficiently. This isn’t just a solution for large enterprises; we believe it will also greatly benefit Ugandan SMEs through flexible and customized adoption models.”
The Microsoft Azure Stack offers local businesses enhanced scalability, reliability, and improved data sovereignty, all powered by Microsoft’s latest hardware and software with high uptime guarantees. This investment by Liquid Intelligent Technologies positions Uganda alongside other African countries such as Kenya, Zambia, South Africa, and Tanzania, where the Azure Stack has already been deployed.
Raxio Data Centre extends its congratulations to Liquid Intelligent Technologies on this groundbreaking investment, which is set to revolutionize the cloud computing landscape in Uganda.
