Ugandan actress Cleopatra Koheirwe stars in a Netflix series

After shining in The Last King of Scotland and many other productions as an actress, Cleopatra Koheirwe has once again starred in an even bigger production with American streaming media and video-on-demand online company, Netflix

Cleopatra Koheirwe one of Uganda’s finest actresses featured in a cameo in Netflix’s Sense8 series when she appeared as a mother to one of the children during a riot in Kenya where the scene was taken in season 2.

It’s not an everyday thing that a Ugandan stars in a high profiled series as on Netflix but here we are with Cleopatra raising the flag high. Sense8 is an American science fiction drama web television series created by Lana and Lilly Wachowski and J. Michael Straczynski for Netflix.

When Guru8 contacted the actress, this is what the flamboyant actress had to say;

I am humbled that you picked interest in SENSE 8 and my appearance in it. Thank you. My role was of a young mother who was caught in the middle of a water riot because she too was there to buy water whose price had unfortunately been hiked. I auditioned like 3 times for different roles but this is the one I finally landed. It was an amazing experience acting alongside the likes of Toby Onwumere (Capheus), Jamie Clayton (Nomi) & Tina Desai (Kala). Having Lana Wachowksi and Tom Tykwer as directors was also just mind blowing.

(But I tried to stay calm😉) Lana Wachowksi called out my name “Cleopatra” at some point and shook my hand saying, “good job!” I smiled and confidently said, “Thank you Lana. It is an honor to meet you & be a part of your work. I have been a fan of your movies since The Matrix Trilogy.” She was impressed.

Some scenes are shot stuff for days but when the final edit is done, and you watch it in a few minutes, you may not know the hustle and bustle the cast and crew went through to achieve it. 😊

The Ugandan actress doesn’t have any major role in the movie but her appearance makes her the first Ugandan actor to appear in a Netflix series. Maybe she has made it in life, maybe.
